Hudson 400 Albany, NY

Albany and the Hudson River Valley region of New York State are celebrating their 400th anniversary of discovery throughout 2009. Led by explorer Henry Hudson, the Dutch East India Company sponsored a voyage that was to discover a shorter passage to the Far East. What Hudson found instead was a lush valley and a navigable waterway the culminated in escarpments and waterfalls in what we now call Albany.

Hudson 400, Celebration of Discovery will showcase Albany’s Dutch heritage and the rich history of the Valley. Special events will be ongoing throughout the year on the Hudson River, along the shores of the river and at historic sites throughout the region.
